The Kerrville Public School Foundation, an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation promoting quality education in Kerrville ISD schools, was established in 1987 with a primary purpose of supporting innovative teaching programs.  It was organized exclusively for educational purposes to provide supplemental funds for educational and scientific programs or activities for the Kerrville Independent School District.  Specifically, the Kerrville Public School Foundation seeks and distributes funds to support programs and initiatives to further enhance learning for public school students in the Kerrville community.   Contributions are tax deductible as defined by the Internal Revenue code.

Our Mission

The mission of the Kerrville Public School Foundation is to serve as a catalyst for involving the community in the enhancement and achievement of academic excellence for the children of Kerrville ISD by providing financial assistance not available through state or local funding.

In order to accomplish its mission, the Foundation encourages contributions for current programs and the endowment. The Foundation plans and administers all programs in cooperation with the school district.

Our Goals

  • To encourage academic excellence in the Kerrville Independent School District by providing funds not available through local, state or federal sources.  
  • To provide a perpetual source of funds for current and future Foundation programs that are in alignment with the District’s Strategic Plan.
  • To increase community involvement in the support and improvement of the quality of education students receive.

 

The financial goal of the Foundation is to build a $500,000 endowment by the year 2010.

KPSF Prize Patrol Surprises Educators in May

The Kerrville Public School Foundation's Prize Patrol on May 11th and 13th awarded $29,061 to educator teams and indivicuals in Kerrville I.S.D. to award ten instructional grants and one Time Warner Cable Connect a Million Minds S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) grant.  KPSF's Prize Patrol traveled to each campus to meet and surprise the educators and their students who will directly benefit from this year's grants.  Grants provide funding for innovative and creative projects and programs to enhance learning for students.  K.I.S.D. employees are invited to submit grants by the first Monday in March each year.


Ducks Delayed
Race Rescheduled for Saturday, April 24th

Due to inclement weather expect on Saturday, April 17th, the Great Duck Race has been rescheduled for the following Saturday, April 24th.  Please join us!  Ducks will float down the Guadalupe River.  You can buy a duck for $5 and, if your duck makes it to the finish line first, you will receive a prize.  KISD and KPSF thanks the City of Kerrville for providing golf and fly fishing lessons and city staff members to help with the event.  Families can come out and enjoy the Dunk Tank, the Duck Fashion Show and Parade, inflatable climbing walls, clowns, and more!  Don't miss the excitement, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00 after the duck race winners have been announced.  This event is free to the public and proceeds benefit KPSF.  Hope to see you at Louise Hayes Park!


Reach For the Stars Gala Another Success

The Kerrville Public School Foundation's "Reach for the Stars" gala was held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at the Inn of the Hills.  "The gala was casual and a time for KISD educators and the community to come together in celebration of education," stated KPSF Board member Jenny Mitchell.  Along with many other auction items, art work from students in grades K-12 was featured.  Live music, dancing, and both a live and silent auction made the evening fun for all. 

 

 


 

Wachovia Wells Fargo Gives KPSF Grant

wellsfargo_oct_001.jpgWachovia Wells Fargo Foundation expressed its commitment to excellence in education in October with a $5,000 grant to the Kerrville Public School Foundation.  Stacy Stavinoha, KPSF Vice President of Development said, “This generous grant award to KPSF demonstrates Wachovia Wells Fargo’s community leadership and involvement in the education of our students.” 

 

“Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation places a strong focus on supporting education.”   According to Mike Huff, Wells Fargo Bank president,   “We want to be part of building a strong and vibrant community, improving the quality of life, and making a positive difference for the youth of Kerrville.  We are very pleased to award this grant to KPSF.”

 


FOUNDATION NIGHT KPSF HONORS TEACHER GRANT RECIPIENTS

Roosevelt_Game1_036.jpgThe Kerrville Public School Foundation (KPSF) celebrated “Foundation Night” at pregame activities in Tivy Antler Stadium prior to the SA Roosevelt/Tivy High School football game Friday, August 29.  The purpose of the “Foundation Night” festivities was to highlight the accomplishments of KPSF’s fundraising efforts and pay tribute to all past and present teacher grant recipients. Since 1987, over 100 teachers have been awarded a total of $324,476 for innovative instructional programs for their classrooms and students.  Projects have encompassed every subject area and grade level from early childhood to high school and have provided the teachers an array of materials, equipment and technology that is outside the scope of local, state and federal funding.

 

 

 


Kerrville I.S.D. Faculty & Staff Grant Application Online

KPSF Receives Remschel Scholarship Endowment

Marianne Remschel and family recently donated $10,000 to permanantly establish the new Henry H. "Rique" Remschel Memorial Scholarship.  Mr. Remschel was raised in Kerrville and was a long time resident of the area, passing away in 2008 at the age of 80.  He was a proud graduate of the Tivy High School class of 1945.  The scholarship will be awarded each May to a Tivy High School senior  for further education at a college or trade school.  KPSF proudly offers scholarship and endowment opportunities in honor or memory of a beloved person.


KPSF Donates to Advanced Placement Scholarship Fund

Tivy High School students, along with many students across the country, have the opportunity knocking at their door to gain college credits while in high school.  KPSF aims to encourage Tivy students to take enriched and rigorous Advanced Placement (AP) classes and pass the cumulative exams that follow by funding scholarships for seniors based on the successful scores earned after taking certain AP Exams.  The Foundation has been the primary supporter of this KISD Program since 2006, and this August donated  $8,371 toward AP Scholarships.  The funds are disbursed to colleges of the students’ choice.   


  

KPSF Receives Rotary Grant

KPSF Board Member Kim Clarkson and Executive Director Barbara Johnston received a $3,000 grant from the Rotary Club of Kerrville President Diane Green on June 10, 2009.  The grant money will help fund the Advanced Placement Incentive Program.  This program rewards seniors who take Advanced Placement exit level exams in core content areas.  Since the program's inception, Kerrville ISD has seen an increase in the number of students passing these exams.  Students who enroll in Advanced Placement courses are given rigorous curriculum.  Upon successful completion of an end of course exam, a student can earn college credit for the course.  KPSF is proud to sponsor a program which directly impacts students and rewards academic success.
