Peterson Recognized for Major Growth in 2008-2009
Peterson Middle School showed major academic growth in all academic areas for 2008-2009. In August, the Texas Education Agency announced that Peterson received a recognized rating based upon 2009 TAKS results. Specifically, Peterson saw substantial gains in the areas of 8th grade science, 8th grade math, 8th grade social studies, 8th grade reading, 7th grade math, 7th grade reading and 7th grade writing. Mrs. Sharon Mock, the school’s principal, stated that she was very proud of the students and teachers for their hard work last year and looks forward to another successful and positive year.
Peterson’s results may be accessed at 2009 TAKS Scores.
It's "caching" on! Seventh grade students were treated to first-hand lessons in GPS and geocaching by Kerr Country Appraisal District representative Robert Neuman. Texas Stars science teacher Carol Wier tied the experience to her UIL Maps, Charts, and Graphs studies. HPMS thanks Mr. Neuman for his time and for allowing the students to learn more about GPS technology.
